What kinds of fading techniques have you used?

some of you may have seen my post in jedi masters topic but if you haven't i will re-post it here:.

i'm new to the site, my wife and i are are doing the fade we still have a son and daughter-in-law who are still in so we don't want to get hung.

i was an elder for 25 years and was removed because i didn't agree with the gb on an important issue and spoke privately and with trust to another elder who broke that trust and told the other elders and co about my disagreement.

I have some good friends and family who have either gone through a successful fade or are in the midst of one.

One of the faders simply approached the elders and laid it on the line - he told them he was having a hard time believing certain teachings. He kept very respectful throughout the process (meetings to try and "help him" regain his faith) and often expressed how he wished he believed it like he once did. He used the approach of virtually begging for proof so that his faith could be restored. Of course it could not be provided. Eventually the elders got tired of trying to convince him. Twelve years later he has successfully completed the fade.

I'm Still Receiving Teaching Assignments......That's Odd.

i'm currently a ministerial servant, and i haven't been to a congregation meeting in almost 4 months.

my father, who brings me my magazines and kms, has informed me that i have parts on the tms and service meeting coming up soon.

what's the deal with that?.

Welcome aboard Idrnomo!

I too am relatively knew to the site and don't check in that regularly, however I can tell you that there are some very intelligent and interesting characters who post on this board. It will give you a valuable perspective if you are able to check in and read through some of the posting threads.

Excellent approach to your fade by the way! I am still in phase I of my departure, but I will no doubt enter phase II (where you are at now) within the next year or two. It is great having you here and I will look forward to future posts. I would love to hear about any instances where you have had success in causing an awakening in any of the JWs that you still associate with. As far as I can tell, you are in a great position to truly help people by freeing their minds from a dangerous cult.

official encouragement comes from the pages of the wts publications such as this fine example.. how would you respond?.

This will be an interesting study to conduct tomorrow....

I have a feeling that it will be one of the best studies in recent memory to further the cause....

I can guarantee you that there will be a lot of publishers thinking long and hard after tomorrow's lesson....

I'll be pumping harder than ever the need to seek professional help if you are depressed. Thanks to another friend on the board here who didn't post I'll also be emphasizing how we shoud not compare ourselves to others and to only do what we feel we can.

Show up and do your parts.

What is your assignment? Let me know, and if you like, I can give you some suggestions on how to handle it.

If you're ready to do something really worthwhile for a stretch before you do a complete fade please let me know. It is amazing how much good you can do (helping JWs to experience an awakening to real truth) while you still serving... You might even find it enjoyable, but the real satisfaction comes when you are able to free a mind.

remember...anyone who remains in the JW faith and remains faithful and obedient to the FDS is in grave danger.

Hmmmmm....

On the one hand I think this news from OTB is no big deal. It's not exactly a rarity that a JW, even an elder (), comes to realize that the entire thing is a sham. These kinds of conversations are happening all over the place right now, among JWs at every level.

On the other hand, there are aspects to the story that sound a bit weird. I agree with Mary when she points out the oddity of the line "this may sound apostate, but I want to tell you something". I doubt that would be the opening line for a discussion while out in the service. Anyway, it could just be a flaw in the way the conversation was recounted....

OTB - are you a troll(s)? I don't think you are by the way. But. tell us more about your situation ....

Very funny in places - because it is so true.

I am interested in your situation. You are obviously still attending meetings. Are you a brother? Sister? Elder? Pioneer? Are you making an effort to open up the minds of any in your current congregation, your family, or circle of friends?

I'd love to compare notes on what you are finding effective if you are embarking on any kind of campaign.

Hi new people!

I am intrigued about your situation. Not sure if you have been lurking around any of my posts, but if you didn't know - I too am still in "the truth" serving as an elder, but have come to realize that it is a complete and utter sham - from A to Z.

I have been having a lot of success lately, in opening up several JWs minds to the fact that the truth may not be all that it claims to be.

I'd love to know a little bit about how you all had your "awakening". The more details the better, but I totally understand if you can't share too many specifics just yet.

Just ran into a DFd Witness trying to "come back"

i invited him to come inside the coffee shop where i am working (on a book about jws) and he came in saying he had to make it back to the convention center for his assembly, but he was very leary.

he came in and i invited him to sit down but he woudn't.

he said he couldn't answer any questions because he was disfellowshipped.

Hmmmm....interesting.

I think you right. Many Witnesses these days take pride in avoidance tactics. I am still in "the false" as you call it (working undercover to destroy the cult and save kind and innocent people from psychological and physical danger), and I can attest to the fact that most JWs spent as little time as possible in real "service". My book study is a great example. Most are loving the fact that I send them on their way and never check up on them. I know half of them end up going for breakfast or going to do "a few calls" then call it quits.

The reason is fairly simple. I honestly believe that deep down 90% of the intelligent JWs realize that it is a complete and utter sham. But a large part of their brain won't allow that thought to reach their mainstream thought waves. They suppress it for many differnent reasons ( a topic for another post), but it shows up in other ways - like ditching service, and quietly partaking in activities that are "against the rules" (over drinking, watching R rated movies etc etc). If they REALLY believed it deep down they wouldn't be avoiding service and doing these other things.

let me begin by saying that i never expected to even talk about my situation let alone discuss it on the internet but i guess im just feeling so sad that i must hope that someone will understand and give me encouragement...so here it goes.. .

but the more active i got, the more abusive my stepmother became.

ironically, he sent my stepmother to the wedding.

You will find comfort here from many genuine and nice, caring and intelligent people.
